THE LACK OF QUALITY

-
Vulgar works
Using title to illustrate the drawing and the drawing couldn’t explain for itself. No connection between the two.

-
Meaningless topics
A meaningless copy of the subject. As the contents of the blog are already random and meaningless, what’s the merit of objectively drawing them out without pointing at anything?

-
Amateur installations
The way to present a piece of art is an aspect of an artist’s quality. It directly results in the artwork’s connection to the whole environment. It’s also an aesthetic matter.

-
Vagueness in the idea
Random words carved into a marble piece, hardly respond to each other. What’s the idea?
DOUBTABLE FAIRNESS
I tried hard to find out why this work won the first prize from many aspects of art: skills, materials, concept, subject... And I didn’t succeed. In fact I wish I never would. Accept this drawing as the best of all would be a denial to almost everything I know about drawing.

The exhibition by no means lacked strong works, neither did the one of last year. Ridiculously, the decisions of the judging panel were twice a reverse of justice.
I browsed the selected works last year including those prize winners. And I believed that I had merits that they lacked, especially in the academic aspects. What do you think of the drawing I sumitted?
ONE OF THE GOOD
After all those critical analysis, I’d like to state out one of the shining points in this exhibition.
An aspect of art is the extraordinary way that an artist define an ordinary object, aiming at the level of cognition. I would like to see this type of art to be more regular, for the thinking in art is always higher than the making. In a simpler description: less action, more consideration.

JERWOOD DRAWING PRIZE-2015
Failed in the selection for Jerwood Drawing Prize 2015, I went to the exhibition on purpose to find out why. Despite the merits in the exhibition, I’d more like to discuss my doubts and questions.
